I just wrapped up a successful Board Game night at our school!
(it's January) and although we're right in the middle of a deep freeze (10 degrees was our high today!) We had 59 people show up to play!
We held it from 6pm to 7pm in our school gym.
We rolled out the cafeteria tables and invited all families to bring a game to play (math based). (Uno, Connect 4, Yahtzee, CandyLand, Chutes & Ladders, Chess/Checkers, Dominos, etc.)
The high school honor society was also contacted (the High School kids need volunteer credits) to come and play or teach games. They had a great time and would definitely help out again!
We brought along two Stir Crazy popcorn poppers, popped up about 10 batches of hot popcorn and served juice while the families were gaming.
This was SO EASY and inexpensive!!
The families seemed to truly have a nice time. We did need to connect a few people who didn't have a game to play and integrate them into some other groups, but other than that it ran very smoothly.
We need to have a family night in April and we just may have another Board Game night!
