Sorry a lightbulb went off is my head LOL. Why not purchase a bunch of games for this evening. Then after the event all the new games would be donated to the school for rainy day reccess. This way you get double the benefit. If you wanted to recoup your loses you could sell food items to compensate.
Even card games like cribbage would work as a "math" game.
I'd bet you could scour your local VFW post or retirement community to drum up some volunteers to play card games.
Even poker would quality - no gambling tho - as you have to have a combination of cards to reach 21.
Any game that involves adding numbers together. Yahtzee was a big hit at our school. Just remember you only have an hour or 90 minutes (whatever you plan for a time frame) to complete this game night.
Our teachers are wanting to co-ordinate a Family Math night however they are feeling a bit overwhelmed on what to do. I gave the principal the idea of a Math based game night. She was thrilled with the suggestion. It sounds quite easy and inexpensive. Math is our focus at school this year. Some parents just started an after school math club. Thirthy seven kids and fourteen parents came to the first meeting. They plan on playing math based games with the kids, and showing that math can be fun. I would love some more suggestion on math based games to play. Thanks.
