WE NEED IDEAS FAMILY FUN NIGHT

16 years 6 days ago #146967 by Momski
The PTO Today website had a great listing of ideas for family nights. Go to the main PTO today home page -there should be a link. Our best family night was board game night and qualified for an educational program. We encouraged families to bring board games to play during a 90 minute span.

The PTO provided punch and popcorn, and we recruited the National Honor Society Students (the Seniors at our local high school) to come and play along. They had a blast!

It was a nice event, very easy, educational, the honor students got volunteer credits and it was a lot of fun.

Good luck!

We do three a year.

The first is alway a movie night.

The second is variable, this year we're renting out the whole bowling alley and having family bowling. They're giving us two games, pizza and pop for $5 a kid.

The third is always a dance with a theme. We've done a sock hop, a hoe-down, under the big top, a disco, and a few others that are escaping me. This year with the popularity of Hannah Montana and Camp Rock and all that, we're doing a Rock and Roll theme.

OMG, I have the BEST idea for you guys! The Lite (an FM station in Chicago) is giving kids a chance to sing on the radio! You just have to send in a short CD or MP3 of your kid's school or church or choir singing and they will choose some to be on the air and some to sing on stage at the Radio City Christmas Spactacular! I was so excited about this. You should definately check it out if you are like me and want something fun to do with your kids this holiday season.
Here's the link with all the info:

93.9 WLIT-FM - The Holiday Lite

Let me know if you decide to try it out. Happy Holidays!!!

We do four family fun nights each year. Our first one is Team Night....wear favorite team shirts....games are 'sports' oriented, food is along the lines of what you would get at a sporting event.....you get the drift...second one is Chili Feed....usually midwinter. We have each class donate an ingredient. Various games...ring toss, bowling..face painting....cakewalk.....third one is pancake feed. Perkins does this one for us, pancakes and sausage for $.50 per head or maybe slightly more...under a dollar, anyway. They bring their own grill, batter, sausage, etc. They even clean up! We have games there also. And talent show. Fourth one is Pasta Feed. Show Choir performs, drama troupe performs....
Hope this helps!
