Our school has done Kid Stuff for the past 3 years now and it is one of the more popular fundraisers with our families. The first year we conducted this fundraiser, there were so many families that did not return the books, that now the company will only allow us to take book orders. We still do OK and the company was surprised at how many we sell with out giving the book out first. Sadly, we discovered our parents need to “re-learn†the core values we teach to our kids; trust, responsibility, integrity, hope, courage!!
Kidstuff books were sold in my Kindergartener's school this year as an alternative to Entertainment books. Personally, I have found them to be more useful than the Entertainment books but you would need to look through one to see for yourself. I think we made 50% profit ($12.50 per book). Of course, the hardest part is keeping track of which books did not sell and needed to be returned by parents.
Kidstuff Books was brought up at a recent PTA meeting, but the reception was lukewarm as it's fairly new to our area in NJ. I tried finding info on the web, but to no avail. The way it was suggested that we intro it was problematic to me (sending it home with kids, if the parents like it they send in check, if they don't they return it ). On the whole though if it was marketed correctly to the parents I see potential.
