hi we had a silent auction last november that went really well - and to repeat another log, the teacher baskets went REALLY well. some teachers got in on them together, and so much of the funds raised goes back to them that we felt it was okay to ask them for a small amount of time and money. they did kids game basket, sleepover baskets, crafts, all kinds. also a big seller was the gym teacher donating a birthday party for 25 kids in the gym after school, and the use of the cafeteria for your own cake/ice cream. the art teacher gave an afternoon for an art party. And one last thing! if your school holds annual events like a spring concert, holiday show, grade level plays, etc... 4 front row seats could be 'donated' by the school. those caused alot of competition bidding! GOOD LUCK!
Hi ,
we had our auction in marh and here are a few items that went well.
The Art teacher painted a cople of end tables. She also got a group of 5 kids and painted a large and small rocking chair. The parents of them bid well.
Getting the teachers to realize if they do not want to take time out of the off time they could."cook lunch in the teachers lounge for 3-6 kids...have a picnic...An extra recess time. But taking the kids to the aquarium, reading bedtime stories, coming and babysitting are the BEST! You should get an auctionbooklet from a near by school and present them with what NEARBY school teachers have done.
Good luck,
In searching the internet I found auction item lists for a couple of schools. They offered the following items provided by teachers: sporting event, movie, ice cream, bedtime story, lunch, asst principal for a day, music lessons, dinner, craft session, picnic, homemade cookies, etc...
I think we will try to utilize the individual teachers talents or strength. For example we have a 5th grade teacher who is a golfer. Maybe he could offer a couple of sessions of private lessons. Another teacher is great with computers. Anyway..........you get the idea.
hi!
for our auctions, teachers offered things such as lock-ins (slumber parties at school or even their home) for the highest 15 bidders (or whatever amount), swimming parties at their house, going to the movies on a school day with the teacher, teacher for the day- where the kid sat at the teacher's desk and "graded papers" or filed stuff. if any of them have a really cool car like a convertible or whatever, a car ride around the school yard works, too. get the teachers input; they will have great ideas.
Good luck!
-tutoring an hour of math, english, etc.
-host a reading group during lunch/after school til a particular book is read or every tuesday etc - a new release like Harry Potter #5, top 5 bidders are in group
I don't remember what it was for but something we did if the kids made their goal the principal had to wear her pajamas to school for the day. The kids loved it.
This is a great idea..........but at our school we would have to make sure it didn't interfere with class time.
I have to come up with the same things for our Harvest Festival 10/17 so I will keep thinking and post again when I get more ideas.
