two of our 2nd grade teachers had a night at school for about 15 kids. parents dropped them off about 6:00 pm and picked them up at midnight. they had pizza and games. one of our 5th grade teachers had a sleepover at her house. the highlight of that sleep over was the midnight run to wal-mart in their p.j. we had classes with no shoes, out side class day. how about a kick ball game against the teachers and the kids. we also auctioned of a parking space at school. good luck, and have fun.
Thanks for the gift basket ideas...however I am really looking for some "no cost" or at least minimal things the teachers could do...similar to a lunch with the principal idea. We don't want to ask the teachers or families to spend any money on buying items to create the gift baskets. We get so much from local businesses and the companies that we send letters to that we don't really need that. However, because many parents asked about the teachers being involved we thought we could have some interesting auctions...I was hoping someone had some ideas about things the teachers could auction off...mayeb free homework passes or something more creative than that!
We have the teacher and there students make up themed baskets. Some of the baskets that we used for our carnival this spring were: summer fun, kitchen needs, craft items, summer reading books, pet supplies and a few others that I can't think of. But these were great items that both the kids and the teachers loved doing.
We are holding our second annual silent auction on October 24th, this coming fall. While we are receiving a great response from the business community again this year...we would like to get the teachers more involved. Many parents commented that we should get the teachers involved this year in creating items to bid on. Last year our principal did do a lunch with the principal item and we did well with that ... however, I was hoping you all might have some more creative ideas that I could propose to our teaching staff. I would appreciate any ideas....thanks in advance!
