I am the President of the Family Club/PTO in our rural community. Our school is a K-8, including about 15 Preschool Children. Our enrollment is about 110 students total. We have a fall carnival fundraiser every year, it is our biggest money maker. Last year, we had a net profit of over $10,000.00. If you would like to email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., I will fill you in on the details. I don't know if it will work for you all, but it is very successful for us.
Our school is also rural. We are a K-5th with not quite 300 kids.
We are doing a walk a thon for the first time as our main fundraiser. We are going to have different stations the kids stop at along the way and do an activity. We are coming up with some great station ideas and think it will go over great. We're still ironing out all the details. We used to do the catalog sales but they have been down the last 2 years and most people in our area don't have a lot of $$ to spend on the catalog stuff, its slim picking.
I am the PTO president of our elementary school located in a small farm community. The PTO is responsible for paying for all assemblies and providing an inflatable obstacle course for field day. The school district does not allow the children to participate in fundraising and we are running out of ideas. Most of the families have to drive to the city for work, which adds an hour long commute, so we have poor volunteer support for evening activities.
