My school did a read-a-thon last year and it went over well. We sent out pledge sheets and had it go all month long. We did the same month as national read month. At the end of the whole thing the school did a read-or-rama in their class rooms. The kids got to bring pillows, stuffed animals, blankets, and snackes, and ofcourse their favorite books. My son liked it. We are doing it agian this year. Pretty good profit as well.
Just found this site...thank goodness! It's terrific! As incoming president I'd like to initiate a read-a-thon this year...something our school has never done before. Can someone who has successfully run one please share an outline or ideas? Did you have special event tie ins like authors coming to speak etc? What about theming? Please help!
