I sorry and I "butt" heads w/ our president--today our commuinties are NOT going to buy $10. gift wrap, 25.00 candles and over priced frozen food! Today's families are choosing between bills and groceries as compared to WAY OVER PRICED ITEMS.
My ideas are pizza's, hogies, pencil sales for 25cents and make 50% profit from places like Oriental Trading..
Wow. Our school took a chance on this "new" method. We have lost several thousand dollars. We were very hesitant to sign with Sally Foster since they changed to their gift cards. Our salesperson was a real cheerleader for it and even suggested that we add the cookie dough fundraiser along with the gift card sale. She said that the sales of the cookie dough have been blowing away the "old way" sales all year long. I am not a refrigerated cookie dough person anyway...but this cookie dough is awful. Several other organizations in our community are selling the same cookie dough and I wish I would have tasted it before I ordered. Horrible! Our gift card sales are 1/14th of the "old way" catalog sales. Thank goodness we added this cookie dough so we could get a little bit of money. Plus, now I can't wait until our parents start to order things and see how ridiculous the prices are! I am bracing myself for comments about bad tasting cookies and rip-off prices!
I agree! I have not been able to use my gift card because they do not "allow" the seller information to be added. I have tried to contact them several times without success. I only buy this in order to help my grandchildren and their school- not to support this compan. I have done this since my own children were in grade school- MANY years ago. I have always thought the product over-priced and limited. I plan to report to the school that from now on I will just donate the amount I would have spent directly to the school rather than give another cent to this rip-off company. The gift card idea was truly just a scam. it's is disgusting.
Sally Foster gift card is definitely a rip off!!! AT THIS RECESSION TIME.. you are trying to be an angel and help raise funds, then my $20 gift card only got me a paper bag!!! I tried to order the chocolate and the shipping fee is so expensive plus they don't have a lot of options. I really feel bad for the school and the kid who are selling their product.
So far, this year, I have already helped 6 kids, all different fund raisers, most of the catalog are not as much, if you go online, you have more option and you tell the mom "hey can you order me this" so I won't pay for the shipping.. but this Sally Foster have the worst catalog and then it kind of tricked me to just buy the gift card, only to end up with an expensive paper bag. I know we are trying to help raise some funds but this defies the purpose, I would rather give the whole $20 to the school fund raiser drive than give half of the money to shipping!
Hope people from Sally Foster reads this... and to other people who plans to be tricked with their gift cards.... BEWARE!!
I so agree. That's why I posted the original comment].
I believe that in todays world of shrinking school budgets we need
our fundraising dollars to do more and go further and you are
absolutely right in that Sally Foster has become a total "rip-off".
Definitely spread the word.
I would never buy for a fund raiser that is selling "Sally Foster" merchandise ever again. It is such a rip-off. My 1 item, $9.99 gift wrap, cost me just about $18.00 of my gift card that I purchased.
They added on a shipping charge of $5.95, so I thought that I could get 1 more item. So I added on curling ribbon, then went to check out and found out that they added on taxes bringing my total to $20.12. Therefore, I either had to submit my credit card for .12 cents or buy at least $50.00 in purchases to get the shipping free.
I got 1 item, for $9.99 and it cost me $20.00.
Do not buy from this fund raiser!! I am spreading the word so other people will not waste their money.
I know this helps schools, but the item is already marked up to begin with.
