The Hilton in our area did donate a one night's weekend "B&B" stay to our auction. I just wrote to the hotel in our area direction, "Attn: Donation Requests." Local B&Bs have offered to do .
One idea we had that made the "pruchase one night" make sense was to put together a "Teacher's Getaway" Package. We are buying one night at a B&B in a nearby town, and the B&B is donating another. We have a couple of gift certificates from a local restaurant and shop, along with an admission to a local attraction. We plan to sell raffle tickets for $2 each for the getaway, with this twist: the person buying the ticket writes the name of the teacher they'd like have win on the ticket, and we'll do a drawing at the end of the night. With anticipated attendance of 150-200 people, 75% of them parents, we figure we'll come out way ahead, even if we have to buy one of the nights And some lucky teacher will receive a great prize!
We had no luck going through corporate hqs - however, we put a message out to our parent community and we had 2 family's that had contacts and helped us get donations from some nice boutique hotels in the near by city. Worth a shot going that route.
Nick Hotel said no to us. I have tried several other hotels, including casino areas - Atlantic City, Vegas, Poconos. I spoke to a travel agent who indicated hotels and airlines are not donating much anymore. She suggested having someone donate reward points or miles. I have asked our parents, but no one has expressed interest in doing this.
I got the same response from Great Wolf Lodge and we don't have the funds either. I did do letters today The Hyatt Corp and Nickelodeon Hotel in Fla. I have no idea what to expect. I thought I would try those 2 first and then some more. Good luck.
We are having a lot of trouble putting together any type of vacation package. We have not secured a hotel or airline donation. Great Wolf Lodge offered us a special "buy one night, get one night free". We don't have the funds to buy the first night. Hope you have better luck than we are having!
