That's an interesting situation. Is it possible to say to the hotel that your group is nonprofit and is requesting the donation to raise funds -- that you don't actually have the money to up front to buy the gift certificate?
A lot of hotels are now suggesting buy a gift certificate and they'll issue a free night. It's very frustrating and it's like we needed a fundraiser for the fundraiser. I'm hoping to perhaps ask a parent to sponsor a package but I'm not sure how it will be received or how to advertise this sponsorship opportunity.
@Kerri, How do you request your donation from Avi Hotel? I am thinking of emailing them but not sure which person on their contact us list to contact for this type of request.
