I was looking for ideas for our first "high school" festival and these sound marvelous. I was wondering, about inviting other schools....did they just perform, was an incentive provided, competition, etc...?
Ours evolved from a carnival with games to more of a "spring fling" - which still required a lot of volunteers, but not as many as a carnival does with shifts for each game. Ours was held in the evening and consisted of lots of things going on simultaneously:
Concessions - cafeteria
Bingo - cafeteria (which has a stage) - may need permit
Silent auction - tables up and down hallways
Book Fair - library
Sock Hop - In gym
Two inflatables - both inside gym
Hair painting station - outside porch
Face painting station - outside porch
Bag Raffle for about 6-10 prizes (pay $1 per ticket and put tickets in container for whichever prize(s) you want to try for.
Activities can be added or scaled down as you like.
Also, with getting donations.
Try going into the facilities instead of just sending letters out-- that way you can answer any questions they might have about your event... and it's a little harder to say no to someones face.
Fun Services is one company that if you buy so many prizes, you get free game rentals-- Also talk to your gym teacher, she might have some games to use from gym class-
We use one of those home based basketball shooters as a game, someone donated it one year- we also using a practice green for putting as a game- we make a sucker tree-- we use a styrofoam cone and color the bottom sticks on some of the suckers--- if you pull a color you win a ticket-- if not, you get the sucker--- we make small grab bags for 2 tickets(small prizes a few pieces of candy)... we have a bouncer- moonwalk- 2 tickets to go in-- this is donated each year by a local company--for publicity for them-- duck pond- with small toy prizes for little ones... let me know if you need more... I'll pull our fliers and post them on the file exchange this week-end
