The yearly yearbook question

I was over our high school yearbook for ten years and now oversee our school newspaper. During that time we used Jostens, Taylor, and Walsworth. All have Websites with good information. Jostens and Taylors did a good job printing our books and their price was reasonable. I had trouble with poor quality binding from Walsworth and their price was not very good (50 of our Walsworth yearbooks came back with holes in the binding). Some of my friends worked with Herff Jones and I understand they do a good job. Friesen may have the best prices, but they are for experienced yearbook teachers not needing technical support.

We use Lifetouch but our yearbooks are not that inexpensive. They do have a local rep. but we did a lot of the work and we still were charged $31.97 per book. I am sure we had some upgrades that added to the cost. Most parents would like the cost to decrease.

Good Luck

My Daughters elementary school in Virginia Beach, VA goes thru Lifetouch the same company that takes the school pictures and the yearbooks are only $10.00 each.

We used Yearbookavenue this year and were pretty happy with the overall price and ease of design. Everything is done online. Simply upload the pictures and design your book. The rep came out to our Chair's house and provided an overview of the program and setup.

I would like to suggest you try a company called School Annual. We have been using them for a few years now and I LOVE THEM. I deal directly with a rep named PARIS SMITH. I feel we get a fantasic deal. This year we purchased 260 books, all soft cover full Color, all done in digital on line. I did the entire thing my self pictures and all, and EVRY page has tons of color, pictures and special touches. It is very easy even if you have limited computer knowledge. Although the rep is not local, he is VERY available by email or phone at any time. If you do have to leave a message, or email he calls or emails with in minutes in most cases. Last year they had our books deliverd two weeks before they were due. I have been so pleased with them that I even wrote the company a letter. We only pay $14.51 for a 76 page book! We charge the kids $20.00. Last year we also invested in a digital camera so we could up load missing children or events or new students up until the very day of submission! It was fantastic!

We are considering Memory Book Company right now. Could you please let me know why you are no longer using them.

Currently, we are using Walsworth Yearbooks as they have a local representative to help answer questions, etc. which is very helpful since this year we are going to an all digital format.
