The only time I can remember our group being asked by another non-profit for a donation was when a local organization was putting together a "safe Halloween" event and they wanted some help with paying for things. We donated because it was going to benefit our students.
At least 3 times this year other non profit organizations in town have asked our group for a monetary donation. Another non profit group I work with (sports organization) has also been asked for monetary donations from 2 of these groups.
It just baffles me that we are all non profit groups fundraising to meet our goals. When we plan an event we use money we have raised and donations from local businesses. What posseses another non profit group to plan an event and then come to your non profit group and ask for a monetary hand out for their function? I would never in a million years consider going to the boy scouts, girls scouts, sports groups, etc.. and ask them for a monetary donation to offset expenses for something like "Donuts with Dad". Which is essentially what they are doing.
Does anyone else have this happening? I guess what ticks me off the most is that I know for a fact the last organization that asked has more then enough money to cover their event, not to mention they charge people to go to it and have very little expense involved. At the end of the day they may actually spend no money on this event, so why would you ask our PTO for a monetary hand out?
