I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot poll. And I believe if you are a 501C organization that you cannot legally do it...others here are more versed but the ill will that doing something political like this would certainly not work for my school.
Our School district is; through the principles, who are on the executive boards of the PTOs, asking the PTO leaders to present to the members a proposal that would have the PTO's buy signs that will show support and ask people to vote yes for a "Tax Levy Transfer" and a "big levy tax increase" on the April Ballot. This is because the district, by law, can only offer information on the issues to the public. I don't think this is right! Is this legal? It is in my opinion as a parent it is unethical, and this is not what I intended my money to go for when I joined the PTO? What can be done?
