School colors- debate

The BOE (Board of Education) probably makes that decision here too. It would have to be approved by them anyhow.

Similar thing happened here. I never did get the whole story on that. For years our high school colors were royal blue and white. Then right before I started high school letter jackets were navy blue and red! So when I inquired because I was nosey, not that I really cared, I was told that was the original colors (along with white). That is what they still use today.

If I were you I'd go with the majority.

I definitely wouldn't think it was the PTO's decision to make. Sure they might provide input, even spearhead the effort. But I can't see why they would believe they had that authority - unless the principal gave them the task.

I think in our elementary schools, the school colors/mascotts just sort of evolve via at the school level. It's not that clear that elementary schools in our area really HAVE colors/mascots.

For secondary schools, it's definitely more defined. I don't know that the choice has to go before the school board (or Board of Education /BOE), but I wouldn't be surprised. I could see them wanting to make sure mascots were appropriate and that there was some difference among school colors.

Wow, I've never heard of a school changing their colors. If I'm not mistaken, the BOE makes that decision, but then again I could be wrong. I'm interested in the replies that you will get.

Our past PTO voted to change our school colors to maroon and gold 3-4 years ago. It's my first year here and now am PTO fundraising chair. I want to order spirit t-shirts but our principal and the STAFF consider our school colors BLUE AND GOLD. The principal says that just because the PTO voted to change doesn't mean our SCHOOL COLORS changed...Does that make sense? Well, the past few years they have sold the maroon and gold, because it is also the colors of our high school and baseball team, soccer team in our area. The oldest staff member says our colors are Blue and gold...How should I handle this as it's my first year ....OH...I polled about 20 students and they want BLUE shirts !! What do you guys think I cshould do ! THANKS
