This is probably obvious, but look for ex-students to come in and speak in the classrooms. Or have the kids design some memorial area and have a ceremony to dedicate it to a past alumnus who has made a positive impact on the community.
Try to find as many pics of the school during the past 50 years and put them in a display in the lobby. maybe a collage. the kids will laugh themselves silly looking at the pics of their parents with afros, hair halfway down their back, or wearing flower power clothing
Most schools do a large 100 days of school celebration, why not do a 50 days of school event? Maybe have the cake on the 50th day of school. There are alot of links on 100 days, maybe some could be adapted for 50.
My childrens school will be celebrating its 50th birthday in the 2003-2004 school year. Besides a birthday cake what can I do to celebrate this birthday. HELP PLEASE
