Why don't you casually mention there is a chance you will be moving to the VP's. Then once you firm up your plans you can tell them for sure. I think you should stay as Pres in the beginning so there will be a Transition period.
Be sure to have meetings during the summer so the VPs can be in the loop.
Construction on our school isn't completed and I can't tell you how excited I was to be elected PTO Prez for the upcoming year. Never any exec experience but I've hit the ground running and have at least 30 files going already. We have fall fundraiser ready to roll, working on holiday shop, have half of the committees with chairs, spirit wear meeting in two weeks with vendors doing their presentations, etc. Then the other shoe drops . . . . found out this Monday that my husband is being transferred. When to I tell my board and the principal. I don't want to mislead them, but don't want to dump the work off, either, on someone who didn't ask for the job. We will probably be here for the first few weeks of school (believe it or not - better for kids not to move before school starts according to relocation and psychological studies - I'm up on this!) The good news is that we have co-vice presidents, the bad news is that neither of them wanted to be president. When do you suggest I tell them? I want to do it myself rather tham have them hear it elsewhere - but haven't even told my own kids yet. My heart was so into this!!!!
