donation request letters

16 years 11 months ago #139738 by edusofia
I put together parenting classes. I see a difference when parent are given incentives for attending these meetings or classes. I need a sample donation letter. I live in Southern California and if anybody knows of some stores I can contact that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

"I have indeed done much searching on these boards for national companies that donate and, when you take out all the "me too's," you pretty much are left with a lot of addresses (many of which are no good), but not very many confirmed donors."

You've stated what is probably the best reason NOT to spend the time posting lists of companies and their addresses-contact info changes frequently and such a list quickly becomes useless.

Most of our donations did come from local companies, but we did receive some very nice donations from national companies as well, including the following:
Pollo Tropical
Incredible Edibles
Discovery Cruises
Lady of America Fitness Center
Sweet Tomatoes

and more. Another thing to remember is that all national companies are local to someone; I doubt we'd have gotten Discovery Cruise Lines to donate to us if we were in Iowa, but since we are in a neighboring county...On the other hand, there were several companies that others had received donations from that refused us because we weren't near any of their locations.

I'd suggest that anyone who wants donations from national companies do what I did-take the names from Dottie's list and Michael B's posts and any other posts you can find and do your homework to find the up to date contact info and go from there.

As far as not being willing to help other people...that was why I posted the letter we used on this board instead of only emailling it privately to those who asked.

Gonesaleing,

I have indeed done much searching on these boards for national companies that donate and, when you take out all the "me too's," you pretty much are left with a lot of addresses (many of which are no good), but not very many confirmed donors. I would be happy to share who I have received donations from, but any national ones have already been mentioned here (TY, American Girl, Hollywood Video). The list is VERY short.

Frankly, I think locally is the way to go, but most people want to just send out a bunch of letters from the addresses they get on these boards and wait for the donations to start rolling in (unfortunately it is not that easy).

So to say that you know of businesses who donate and "have many to share," but apparently only with someone who can do the same for you strikes me as not in the spirit of what these boards are intended.

Perhaps you could do your emailing privately instead of on the boards if you aren't willing to help those who can't help you in return - although we would if we could.
