Welcome Kathryn! As a parent group leader, finding this site was a godsend at a time when I was struggling with many issues. I know it's been a huge help and source of support for me, and anything that can be done to make it easier, more accessible and "cheesier" will be welcomed with open arms.
As Tim mentioned we've got lots in the works starting with a new blog which will be coming very soon. I'll be jumping in here on the boards but please This email address is being protected from spambots. Pals - i know that book well. In fact it sits on the bookshelf in my office so the message stays top of mind. the good news is that the changes we're talking about will mean more cheese in more places. Things might move a little and look a little different but we'll have more ways to help you with all the changes going on in your school.
aww man Tim! Sounds like cheese being moved! You know the book "Who moved my cheese?" about changes, we are going thru so many in my school, so this just adds to that cheese being moved!
"When you stop learning you stop growing."
I want to introduce you to someone you're going to be seeing more around here and hearing more from in the weeks and months ahead.
Kathryn Lagden joined (rejoined, actually) PTO Today back in the Spring as our Community Manager, and -- being that these boards are our biggest community -- she's going to be getting more and more involved here. Hope you'll welcome her with open arms.
Perhaps more importantly, Kathryn is going to do a lot more than just the occasional message board post. You're going to start seeing some significant changes around the site in the near future and a major rebuild in the very early months of 2008. Kathryn is very involved in all of that (and I'm sure will appreciate all your input).
We're going to have a real blog (perhaps as soon as next week)... and let's-just-say a whole bunch of other features that can facilitate idea-sharing and community between PTO leaders soon after.
Since we started PTO Today, we've been at our best when we find what groups are already doing well, celebrate those things and share them widely. (Rising tide lifts all boats, as they say.) Kathryn's biggest job is going to be creating even better means for those ideas to get found, celebrated and shared. Stay tuned...
