It's kind of a chicken-or-the-egg thing.
The more centrally located a facility is the more convenient it is for large numbers of potential attendees and (usually) the more expensive it is.
So we could have an event -- and probably pay less rent -- 75 miles outside of a city, but then the location would be inconvenient for nearly all potential attendees and result in fewer attendees. (And actually, room rental is a relatively small % of the costs of an event). It's tricky...
I think you'll find in 2007 more and more tools right here on the web. I absolutely love getting out and meeting leaders in person, and I know that all of our events are extremely beneficial for groups (and the depth of learning can be greater), but there's an argument that we can help lots more (tens of thousands of leaders 24x7) leaders with powerful online offerings than we can in person (where we meet 300-500 leaders per event.
Just some insight into our thinking....
