I also attended the conference and thought it was great! Only problem I had was that I was only one person wanting to go to so many more presentations. I couldn't decide where to go. If I could make a suggestion, it would be great if there were handouts on each presentation so although you couldn't see it first hand, you are still able to learn something new. I thought the vendors were fantastic - I am still looking through the packets!! So many ideas. Hopefully, if you are back next year, I can have some of my board members come too! Great job!! That's very nice to hear. Glad you had a good day. Love the word "reinvigorated." Perfect. Besides trying to share practical tips, that hard-to-describe "spirit" thing is also a big part of our goal.
One quibble: if you knew how many people worked so hard to put that conference on (and how little I did), then you wouldn't call it "Tim's conference". Definitely a team effort.
Can't wait to meet more and more in our upcoming locales.
I went to the conference too. That's why I am here on the site posting. It was awesome. The thing about PTO that I like is that they are about "us." I think PTO does a good job focusing on what we need at the school level. The PTA seems to be about "national" issues and they are out of touch with us peons that are "doing all of the work and sending the dues." We became a PTA two years ago and have never looked back.
After attending both PTA and PTO conferences, I have to say that Tim does a much better job telling me what I need to know and want to know. Tim's conference was more fun and fast paced. I am impressed and reinvigorated!
I went by myself (although I tried to get someone from my district to go w/me) and I LOVED it too. I think Tim's sessions were great and the Welcoming New Families. I only wish I had more people with me or several sets of ears so I could know what was going on in the other sessions. I'm presenting about it at our district PT Council meeting for all PTOs next week, so hopefully next year, there will be more parents from CT!
