You know whats funny here is she might not even see a problem here! It's hard for some people to show kids they can be fun but still have authority. If she a parent? Our former Principal wasn't so she really never looked comfortable around little kids but loved to talk with the Middle and High School students (we are K-12). She did take some advise from a mom and took time to read to each class on different holidays which she later told us was highlight to her career!
I would ask if she would be willing to read to the students. What is the worse thing she could tell you...no?
This may not be a PTO thing but we are parents and it can't hurt for the Principal to know she needs to be more visable. Considerate cheap PR!
I am the new PTO pres for our school and our principal has only been at the school two years also. She is very nice and I havent really haven't had any problems and she has always been good to work with so far.
The other day though when we had a PTO get together going over things for this year. It got mentioned that she is very nice but she just isn't "present" for a lot of things. She is in the school mind you just not mingling introducing herself, talking to the kids that kind of thing. The first day of school she doenst go out and greet the kids that kind of thing.
How could I bring this up to her without being crud about it or maybe just generally saying to her to be " OUT" there more for everyone.
I did ask her to speak at our first meeting which she had no problem with so I'm not sure what exactly to do.
Just a little info we are a primary school K-2 and about 550 students.
