I was going to save the typing, but then thought, naah.
Here is some reality - these kids are not being "spanked". They are being BEATEN. By people paid to educate them. By people that parent's have entrusted their children's safety to. And for what? Answering a math problem incorrectly?! I think you might not be as callus if this were YOUR child. You may not condone it, but why does it not enrage? Is your state one of the 22 in the union that still considers this LEGAL? I think it was very underhanded to demean the seriousness of this situation by making this comparison.

Because they ran, screaming, for the door a long time ago!
So far it seems that the food gestapo has not made it to my son's school. But they do get gym class every day so at least they're getting their exercise!

I can't even comprehend the direction this thread has taken. It's completely ridiculous to me.
Of course Shawn doesn't wear a wool sweater around his wife. But I bet he also doesn't call ahead to every venue they might visit and insure that nobody else wears one either.
State sanctioned child abuse is nowhere near protecting allergic children.
PB&J is not a weapon of mass destruction.
Second hand smoke is a proven carcinogen that affects millions of people. Many states have implemented clean indoor air acts just like they have regulated all other carcinogenic emmissions.
Constant use of anti-bacterial products have been proven to not only be ineffective with current viruses and bacteria but to actually be quite effective in creating stronger and more resilient strains.
If you've ever followed a 6 year old boy into the bathroom after giving him the 'go wash your hands' direction you know that it means to him to quickly run his hands under cold water and wipe them on his pants, or his friends pants, or the wall on the way out. It doesn't do anything to remove the peanut oils still on his hands. But I guess that really just aids the "lets remove all peanut products from school" argument.....

I'm going to equate this to someone who smokes and loves to tell me that "It's their right to smoke". My response - your rights end at my nose!
