Wow, didnt realize Prez could hand pick committees.
I'm gonna have to remember that when my dictatorship starts this Apr.
Bylaws should be written by committee and member input then approved by members lasttime I checked.

By the way, will the proposed bylaws be presented to the general membership for approval? That could be one way for you and the other person to get your ideas out for consideration?
You're not wrong or crazy. It sounds like she wants to insure that the bylaws are written to fit her needs and style instead of being a comprehensive, well thought out set of plans to run the group in an efficient and professional manner.
I guess situations like this are the main reason I don't like Presidents selecting committee members. It's just too easy to form those infamous cliques. When we need a committee, we put out a sign up sheet and anyone who writes their little name down is a member. Those people who don't show up regularly, don't put forth any effort, are negative, or have their own agenda are usually weeded out pretty quickly.
She, basically, said this is the commitee and that is it, end of discussion. She did choose two alternates but mind you, both of those are also, her two close friends. The amazing part to me, is that diversity, helps to make it all better. Different opinions are what make for a better group, in my opinion. Even if not everyone agrees, it is nice to hear different sides to the same issuses in a civil adult manner. And that is what we were hoping for. Not just a group of people who all just sit and nod their heads at her because they are intimidated of her. Are we wrong? Or just crazy? Or possibly both?
When she read the committee list and my name was not on it, I would have politely raised my hand and stated that I had volunteered to be on this committee and just wondered why I was not listed. Would have liked to hear her response.
Hi all!
I have yet another dilemma with our President!!! Our PTO is in need of new by laws, our last ones are from 1987. Another gal and myself have been trying to get this brought up for awhile now. And it finally happened. We are going to do it! Our pres. passed around a volunteer list and we both were fast to sign up for it. (along with,maybe,5 other people) At the next meeting the pres. announced the by laws commitee and sure enough our names were not on it. See, I am the past pres. and she does not like me, but I am still very involved and do not feel like I should be excluded from volunteering because of her personal feeling but yet this is what she does. With the by laws, this other gal and myself, have done alot of researching of our schools by laws and looking and checking around to help with our just help prepare for this but now, she wants none of our input. And the sad thing is, is that our principal is new to our school this year. It is his first year here and I think he is just going to let her run it howerver shr seesfit. Is there anything we can do or not? We want to help our kids and be a part of making the PTO better. But right now she's making the PTO almost like a very small exclusive group. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you
Love all your input!
