People and their attitudes amaze me!!

I guess my question is, if you don't help, how will it affect the children in your school? I understand hoping they fall on their face and we all need a pat on the back and recognition to help us keep plugging along but...
If this is for the children, then you really only hurt them right?

So I guess the biggest question is which is more important to you?

We had a PTO meeting the other night - the first since I along with the Sec and VP, and Co Prez resigned. I wasn't looking forward to going but I still want to be involved . Of course I got worked up over nothing really except the attitude of some people amazes me. This parent had a list of proposed changes that could be beneficial though it seems to ask a lot of the volunteers. You know the people who claim they want to help but never do? Yeah them. So I dont have much hope on the benefits here.
When we started talking about elections and nominations this person decided on her own that we didnt need a nominating committee!! Ha! Ok one reason I resigned was because it was claimed that I didnt follow the By Laws rather I allowed our membership to make decisions outside of them. I reminded everyone that we wouldnt be where we are now if accusations hadnt bben made and put everyone on the defense. Sounded like the pot calling the kettle black here. At any rate I do not want to work so closely with a bunch of whiney, know it alls whose main goal is to obtain a title and power. I cant understand why these parents are so concerned with theirselves. Hello we are a PTO for the school but they are all about ego's. Since resigning I have tried to help the Treasurer quite a bit- she has asked more questions the past few weeks then she has in over a year, and she really needs the help. I know that having been in charge of our carnival for 6years I can make this years event easy or hard. I alone know what should still be ordered . Noone else has ever worried about the # of volunteers needed, or to plan for bad weather. A lot of people I know tell me to let these troublemakers figure the rest out and not to help. While a part of me would find great satisfaction in that, I'm not sure what I should do. Maybe its my own ego talking but I want recognition of what I contribute here especially now, but I know it wont be. Should I give all the info I have in order to make it a great success or say heck with it and let them stumble along with it? I dont want to be a witch but then I think of all the things these people have said and done and it makes me mad. Maybe they should have thought about that before they started running their mouths?? Help!?!?
