I know you mentioned the school district and this just really shows how different schools are. Our school district has a set of guidelines, then again too is there anything about how much your board can spend before needing membership approval? We have $49.99
before we need to put it up to a vote.
They have meetings at a board members house and have taken $23,000 from the playground fund to buy the pricipal a digital marquee for our new school.
Turn up the heat and ask the questions that need answers. Obviously the Principal is thrilled to get the money for his/her needs but if this was marked for somethingelse there are some answers that are needed. In a nutshell, from what I have seen and learned, as a Board Member I am accountable to
YOU the member weither you pay dues or otherwise. You and my peers voted for me to do a job, also, I am accountable to the school board (we are actually a committee of the school board).Honestly, others that are just as upset as you need to ask some really hard up questions and I wouldn't take "We work hard and so WE decided what WE wanted to do with this money". Bull....it's March, nominations and elections are coming too, more to think about.
May the force be with you on this one.....
