If The Persons Being Nominated For The President's Position Are From The Current Board ......who Would Vote To Choose Who Would Fill That Spot?
Would It Be Open To The Public (memebers Of The School*teachers, Staff, Parents Ect*) Or By The Excutive Committee????
C.Brooks has a very good point. The issue should be ironed out before the election. It should be spelled out as much as possible in your bylaws so that there is less left to interpretation.
We basically state that someone on the exec. board are the eligible ones for the prez job. But, someone who ran one of our big committees have the option, if no one on the board wants that position.
I agree with jonwilson, but since there is so much confusion, I would ask that this put on the agenda of the next meeting so it can be discussed and understood before the actual voting time comes. That way it won't be so stressful.
Though I hate to say it, I disagree with Critter's interpretation. I understand it that to be President one must be currently serving as an officer. I don't like this idea, but I can understand how it could have come about. Someone in the past may have thought that it would provide more continuity if the President came from the existing board. True or not, this has some merit.
Personally, I think the nominations should be open to anyone who meets the Requirements (our bylaws state that to be an officer, one must have a child attending our schools).

I'm with Critter here. If this is an exact quote, it is worth noting that the statement is that Nominations for President will come from the current Executive Board. It does not say that Nominees for President will come from the current Executive Board. The distinction is significant.
