Thank you all for responding. I too am the newsletter chair and co-coordinater of the winter festival, but I am trying to figure out where my duties are on a month to month basis. I sent out an email to all the officers regarding my thoughts on the agenda for our officers meeting, and I received an email back from the Pres stating that I have chosen a pretty big agenda and that she already had some of those items on her list to talk about(even though she did not mention which ones). I got the feeling she thought I was stepping on her toes. I think we need to sit down and have a little chat as to our goals and that we are in this together.
In addition to the standard "cover for the Prez", our VP is required by the Bylaws to "act as liaison between committee and projet chairs witth the Executive Board." In practice, that means the VP stays in contact with the chairs of the committees and ensures that they are on the agenda of our monthly meeting if needed. She is also the one who is in charge of our annual committee sign up forms - creating them, setting them out and distributing the lists to the chairpeople. You might also have the VP run the membership drive (if you don't have another volunteer).
2. The Vice-President shall:
a. Act as aide to the President.
b. Perform the duties of the President in the event of absence or disability.
c. Plan along with the President the agendas for all meetings.
d. Serve as Program Director, assuming responsibility for contacting and making arrangements (dates, times and costs) for any PTO
Sponsored program brought into the building with the cooporation of the Principal.
But our very eager VP is also newsletter chair and winter carnival volunteer coordinator.
Our Vp is also at the beck and call to say of the Pres, but they also are responsible for planning our unit meetings, they organize and do the speaking at them. They are next in line if our pres gets hit by a bus or a flu bug. LOL!!
Our Co-VP's have a big job. They head up all of the chairpeople. If someone needs something they go to the VP's. The VP's on my board probably do the most. They are very busy and help me (the Pres) a lot! I work outside the home and can call either of them at any time if I need something done. I try not to bother them with ridiculous stuff but they do hold us all together. I don't have our duties here with me at work but I will try to post at a later date.
What do your organizations list as responsiblities for their Vice Presidents? I am the VP of a PTO and our bylaws just state that I am at the Presidents beck and call(not literally but it is the just.) I was just wondering if typically VP's had more in store.
