Our executive board is 2 co-presidents, 1 & 2 vice president, secretary, treasurer. When I was at the meeting I accidently found out that their was one other person running for president and was asked not to run. Every time that we meet with the executive board they seem to shout and do a heck of a lot of finger pointing. I feel like I'm a fall person for their mistakes. Could they be hiding a mistake that we (newsletter committee) is taking the brunt of it?
Rosemom:
Our executive board consists of all of our officers.. i.e. President, 1st Vice President (me), 2nd Vice President (Head of class parents) 3rd Vice President (Ways & Means), Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary and Treasuer. Our Principal is our "Honorary 4th Vice President" but does not attend our E. Board meetings nor is he entitled to a vote.
Hope this helps.
I hope this helps! Our exe. board is the foll
owing: President, Vice pres.(family activities), Vice Pres.(fund raising),secreatry, treasurer and historian.
we have many comitties but suggest that at
least one exe. board member is on that comitte. If a decision needs to be made before a general meeting, than at least three exe. members must approve it. I hope this helps.
This will not help now but maybe something to think about in the future. At our PTO we have the Chairperson attend our working E. Board meetings which are approx. 1 week prior to General Meeting. The Chairperson is to bring with him/her any and all printed material that will be sent home so we can approve it and an outline must be given of the plans for the committee. If it is a $$ committee we want to know how much has been spent to date and if they are still within budget. New Chairpeople like attending the working meeting so that they can bounce ideas off us and we can let them know if it is acceptable. Being on both sides, when I was a general member I had no idea of some of the strictions that were placed on the Board and most importantly why they were placed at all. Now being on the Board, I understand that there are guidelines we must follow.
My suggestion regarding your co-chairs is that whatever committee is it that one of the Board members attend the committee meetings and that the principal may be able to step in and at least rein these chairmen in.
Good Luck
Aggie, Not sure if I can help you, but isn't everything passed through the executive board. Its hard to fire a volunteer, but talk to the principal. Maybe you can help me? Who is on your executive board and what positions do the chairs hold do they go to your meetings? We are having a hard time separating the two. Good luck to you
