We hold 2 fundraisers a year to raise the money for it. The teachers plan the trips (they generally keep to the same places each grade year) and we get the invoice to pay.

zoezin writes:Your school district should have a policy in place for field trips, I would start there. It should have nothing to do with who actually pays for it. And If the teachers are doing all the fundraising for the trip, then it is on them. Are they asking the PTO to help?

We recommend that parent groups gift the money to schools for field trips. The issue here is a PTO or PTA really shouldn't be in the position of "owning" the field trips -- running and managing them.
