Question: Filling Position

When a board member resigns in the middle of the year, does the position need to be open and posted for a set number of days or can a member of the PTO, interested and voted on, take over the position at the time of resignation?

Hi there!
Take a look at your bylaws to see if there are any guidelines on what to do in this situation. If nothing is specified, you could try posting in your newsletter or sending out an email seeking help for the remainder of the school year. You may have a few folks interested and that would require a vote. Or, you may have a situation where one person steps in to fill the slot for the remainder of the year.
