Question: Financials in Meeting Minutes
We post our meeting minutes on our school's website. We often have financial information (balances, etc....) in our minutes, should this information not be posted for the general public to access?

Craig writes:Your financial information should be public. Being transparent about your finances is important, not in the least because the money you raise is coming directly from the (school) community you support. You should be sharing information on how the money was raised and spent with them.
In addition, if you're a tax-exempt 501c3 organization, the IRS makes your form 990 return public. In addition, the IRS compliance guide for 501c3 organizations has this to say: "Public charities are encouraged to adopt and monitor procedures to ensure that information about their mission, activities, finance and governance is made publicly available.
