Question: Consent from Dept. of Education

I am filing Articles of Incorp. in NY State. Do I have to have consent from the NY State Dept. of Education for a PTO group or is there language that I should use in the articles to avoid this problem?

You definitely don't need consent from the state dept. of education to form a PTO. What gives you that concern? From a quick look at the form I didn't see anything that makes that suggestion.

I submitted my Articles to NY State and they were rejected because I used the word "opportunity" which is apparently, too vague, and two because I did not have the "required written consent from the NY State Dept. of Education". The letter states that this consent must be attached to my certificate for filing. I guess I need to re-examine the language so that this isn't needed ???
