This depends. Are you talking about contracts with vendors (fundraising companies, performers, etc.)? If so, not sure this is in the realm of legalities so much as it is a matter of more clearly identifying roles and responsibilities. A few other questions: How is your group organized? Is it an independent group? If your group comes under the umbrella of the school, the principal may have authority to do quite a few things. If your group is independent, it looks like it is time to review bylaws and review who is responsible for what.
