Question: listserv name for PTA board
hello, for about 8 years, our PTA board (program chairs, officers, and principal) listserv name is ExBoard. This has caused quite a bit of confusion for many active parents in our school. Even though they receive the messages about board meetings, they don't think that they are VERY welcome to attend because they see the Exboard name and think it's only meant for the officers. Our officers do not meet separately because everyone is super busy. I would some suggestions for a name that is more inviting to all program chairs and interested parents to attend the board meetings. Thanks in advance.

Craig writes:I'm not surprised people are confused -- so am I! Are these board meetings where just the board participates, or are they general meetings where you want everyone to take part? If they're really general meetings, meant for the whole membership, you should stop calling them board meetings in your communications. If they're really board meetings, you should stop trying to get people to attend. Instead, let people know that the board meetings are open to anyone, but declare three or so a year to be general membership meetings and focus on getting attendance at those. Also, good point about the listserv name. How about PTAinfo or XYZschoolPTA as a name?
