Question: Start-up Toolkit
We are starting the process of getting tax-exempt status 501(c)(3). It seems to be very confusing and I was told by a tax person I would be best off getting a lawyer to help us out with it. Our PTO is very new we have $0 in our account until after our fall fundraiser and so we do not have any $ to pay lawyer fees. If I buy the Start-up Toolkit will I be able to fill out the form easily myself or is it still going to keep me up at night. I'm willing to spend the $39 out of my own pocket if it is going to save me from a lot of stress and headaches. Any feedback would be appreciated.
