Question: receiving donations

We are a new PTO just starting. We are planning our first fundraiser for next fall. It was brought up at our meeting last night from a member that she is concerned people will not feel comfortable with writting checks and donating money to us since we are a new organization. Has anyone else had a prob. with this?

Some people might be concerned but I bet most of the people will be happy to take part in an organization that is helping the teachers and administration do all they can for the students at the school. Have you established by-laws, opened a bank account, elected officers? All of these will help establish your organization and show people that you are serious about what you are doing. Maybe a few will hold back but once you get going, they'll come around!
