I would send home an appreciation note for the child to fill out for the teacher. Maybe put a nice sports border around the note. Teachers truly do not want all of those little gifts and parents hate being told what to bring. It's my fifth year of doing TA at our school and my best advice is encourage parents to write thank you notes. Those are what really matter to the teachers. You can also include some suggestions for gifts...but I would save yourself the trouble of doing this activity.

Teacherfriend1-
Sounds like a fun theme. When you say things that kids can bring in, do you mean that you have them bring in a food or gift item related to the tag line that day?
If so, here are some thoughts:
Basketball- Slam Dunk, and Nothin' but Net -- > Coffee or coffee gift cards and food for dunking in the coffee
Football- Touchdown and Goes all the Way --> Bookstore gift cards... because books are how we go all the way in life
Soccer- Score and Goal --> school supplies or office store gift cards to help them reach their goals
Racing- 1st place --> maybe create a pit stop in the teacher's lounge or have a themed luncheon around this
Does this help?

Our School's theme this year is Sports! Each teacher has picked a sports theme for their door with the children's names. Like my kids teachers are 5th grade: racing and 3rd grade: football. So the ideas I have come up with so far are:
Baseball- you Hit it out of the Park and you hit a Home Run
Basketball- Slam Dunk, and Nothin' but Net
Football- Touchdown and Goes all the Way
Soccer- Score and Goal
Racing- 1st place
But, I need ideas for the children to bring on a daily basis. Small things that can be combined into 1.
