WE are a church and held our 27th annual Holiday Bazaar today. We had over $20,000.00 in donations for our Silent Auction. All totals are not in, and we do have a lot of items left over which we will offer to our workers at reduced price, and then to members of congregation at a reduced price.
Sadly to say we had some "destination" baskets which did not get a bid. We have reduced items to rock bottom in previous years in last 15 minutes of the silent auction. Did not do that this year and are eager to see how this plays out.
We realized approx. $16,000.00 total. and hope this total to grow by several thousand dollars by the end of the year.
As usual there are folks who come to bazaars looking for something for nothing. If asked right now I feel that most of our really hard workers would vote not to have it next year most of them are ready to start work again.
Need advice -
Last year, our silent auction event was March 29. This year, b/c of spring break, we set it for March 21. B/c it is less than a year, might this affect our donations?
