If you search through the Forums, you'll find a great deal of advice on running silent auctions.
To me, it seems like it would be much more complex and a lot more work for everyone - volunteers and bidders to have pickup for a school auction the next day. However, you situation may be different.
We are going to be having a silent auction of themed baskets, a project fair and ice cream social in a matter of 2 hours on a Wednesday evening from 6-8pm. I have been given the go ahead on this and have people who are willing to give guidance but do not want the task of running the auction part of the event. That has now become my "thing."
This will be a silent auction for a K4-5th grade school. The items for auction will be set up in the halls, what is the best way to organize? I am thinking that we will have to announce the items via email or phone calls and have the winning bidder pick up the items at a later time. Has anyone had success doing it this way? Due to the time restrains I am not sure if announcing during the event will be possible. We are also going to be posting pictures and descriptions of items on Facebook to get people interested.
Any info on how to run this successfully would be appreciated.
Thank you!!!
