Hi Edna--it would be start to smart with what you've already done. That means look at last year and what you spent on events AND what income you made from your fundraisiers. Look at those things your going to do again and make them a line item on your budget. Then you know what you'll be looking to spend and thus, what you need to raise. It can be that simple.
You probably then want to look at the first 3 months of school, what you have in the bank and when your first fundraiser is coming up to see if you have enough to cover the operating costs.
At the end of an event, track what you budgeted and what you actually spent and then you'll know if you are on track or behind as far as your fiscal program.
Pretty simple breakdown but that's how it works...
