Look to the left on that link for "Filter by Product". If you plan to use Word, there is only 1 (long) page of templates. There are more choices with Publisher, but less "regular folks" have that installed on their computer.
Think it over before using Publisher. It gives you more options, but it takes more skill and less volunteers know how to use it. Plus it may not be installed on the school's computers (if that's important). When I was an officer, we prefered to use tool's where we could work on them at home or school. One person preferred to use Publisher. Her stuff looked wonderful, but everything had to be done at her house. No last minute tweaking at school when we wanted to change something on the fly. It was also less useful to pass documents down for possible re-use next year.
I'm don't mean to tell you NOT to use Publisher - but just weigh the pros and cons anytime you use a tool with a smaller base of users.
The link brought up several pages of templates. Is there a specific one you recommend or just these in general? Can you make it into a pdf file or available to send via email?
Microsoft.com has all sorts of templates including newsletter ones. You can preview them and then dowload the one you like best. And then all you have to do is just put in your text and maybe some clipart and you're done. I do the newsletter for our PTO and that is where I found the format I liked. Here's the direct link to the newsletter template page: office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/CT101043281033.aspx
Hope this helps!
I am the new publication chair for our PTO and the first job I have is to re-vamp our newsletter. It is ugly and crowded and just plain useless! lol I love some of the newsletter samples I have seen on this site, but can't figure out if there is a way to get the template to them where I can then download my information. Is this possible? Do you know where I can find templates for school newsletters or just plain newsletters for that matter? Thanks so much!
