What do you feel is your best use of funds raised?

Hi O-mom78,

Much of this depends on what your group's mission is. In general, most parent groups have a mission to enrich the children's educational experience and promote/help foster a school community that supports kids and parent involvement. So, your group can determine what it does and doesn't want to spend money on based on those goals.

Here's a great article on what PTOs should and shouldn't spend money on: www.ptotoday.com/pto-today-articles/arti...-should-ptos-pay-for

On a deeper level, if your group has targeted the issue of improving kids grades, then you might want to zero in on some specific enrichment programs that have more of an academic focus. You can also look at math clubs and other after school programs that will dovetail with the curriculum.

In the meantime, you could also consider some of our free School Family Nights which combine community building and enrichment. You can check out more information Family Reading Night, Family Science Night and others here: www.ptotoday.com/sfn/leaders

Good luck!

I'm new to the PTO this year and am wondering how others feel about their own PTO's use of money raised.

Since I've been involved the major $ spent has been on library books being replaced.

What do you feel is the best way to use money for major impact on kids succeeding in school and raising scores on testing (ours is failing at the moment).
