Ok- not sure if this is where this belongs, but here goes.
First off, this is not a parent group issue, it is a parent issue.
Now that that is out of the way...
Parents in our area have become concerned w/the state EPS funding formula & are trying to effect a change. We feel that the funding formula unfairly discriminates against small schools.(we have been steadily losing funding over the past several years due to rising property values.) With the talk of forced consolidation of small schol in the near future, we have decided to take action.
My question is, are any other areas/parents having the same concerns? If so, are you doing/interested in doing anything about it? We've started a letter writing campaign and are in the process of arranging a meeting w/a man from the Maine Dept. of Ed. to discuss our school in particular, but we would like to go further than our own school. We want to change the formula. Any interest or thoughts?
By-the-by: We are being very careful to keep this separate from our parent group business- we are representing ourselves as PARENTS and not our school's PARENT GROUP - no discussion at meetings, etc.
