Here in central New York it has reached $3.39...yes that is correct. I am looking at our Fall Fundraiser and hoping we may make a little bit of money....Not counting on breaking the bank by any means!
Well, this morning I filled up and it cost me $30.00 and I barely got a full tank. The price at that time was $2.79. On the way home I noticed that the same place was up to $2.99 and only had super unleaded priced at $3.15.
I'm worried about our first fundraiser (spag. dinner) on the 15th of this month. And of course future fundraisers. The dinner, an ice cream social and our fall festival in Oct. are our only planned fundraisers until Christmas. We've discussed at our first meeting about doing something, just didn't vote on anything specific.
Now, I'm not really sure we should do one. I know that if the prices keep going up and everything will, because of the gas, food, electric, etc. will increase.
As a single parent, my funds are already stretched thin and this is not going to help any.
As far as school buses go, a couple of counties in Florida have stopped any extra trips other than transportation to and from school. There is talk about closing the schools for a few days. So far, my county is just watching things closely.
Well regarding the high gas prices we found a fundraiser that gives discounts per gallon at our local gas stations. Y'all may want to try something like that, I'll bet those will sell. The cards are $10 & the school/PTO keeps $5. I would post the info on it but I gave the card to my fundraising chairperson. I'll get number from her & post if if anyone is interested.

We are wrapping up our first fundraiser, and so far we are down approximately $4000 from last year. I think that the economy in general and the anticipation of rising gas prices were most definitely factors in our fundraiser.
Prices here range from $3.20 up to $3.75 ish. i don't know yet about impact on fundraising, probably too early to say.
I do feel if it does not change it will have a huge impact on school bussing; more children packing on busses, instead of being taxied to school. We pay taxes for this, it is a pre-paid taxi service, in itself. I have serious issues with current/past driving practices of the drivers; but I cannot justify putting on over 100 needless miles a week. It is a tough call for me personally, I've seen too many drivers try to beat the lights.
Another thing--field trips. Busses are already expensive, this may force some to be called off.
