Hi Closetwriter! I'm sure that chocolate cake would work well with the recipe...how can you go wrong with chocolate? I've never tried it, but I'm sure it's delish!
Lots of school work. If the principal doesn't want to giv eup the time for the walk a thon, see if you can do it during gym time or in place of a recess. If that doens't work, shoot for a read a thon and that can count towards instructional time in most cases.
The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris
I have a micro above the stove. I was always hesitant about having one as well, but we really needed the counter space. It's been fine--I'd only be careful if you had an electric stove--you know, the burner looking cool but you don't find out it's hot until you touch it.
Hiya! Not so much illness, but just caught up in PTO drama (you know--difficult chair issues). We get to meet with our principal on Wednesday about getting the final OK to run a walk-a-thon during school hours--I can hardly wait!
Everyone in our town is freaking out--we just got property value re-assessments, and OUCH. Our town held off on them for over ten years--the prior local government made a big deal about our taxes never being raised, but we're paying the price now. Some people really got socked. We don't live in a great town (small lots etcetera), and our school disttrict is hardly giving us our money's worth. I've the feeling we're going to see a lot of "For Sale" signs this summer. Which is a little scary--I don't know who on Earth could not only afford the homes, but the taxes as well!
The PTO at our School runs the Scholastic Book Fair 3X a year. We have tried different vendors but found that Scholastic is the most generous and easy to work with.
Is anyone out there? It's been very quiet on the boards lately. I know that there is a lot of illness going around, so I hope that everyone is ok.
I sent two packets to school one for the principal and one for the PTO board that contained new fundraising ideas, a parent/teacher survey, PTO brochure, and a few other things. From what I heard, through the school secretary, she's also my daughter's brownie leader, the principal was very excited about most of the suggestions. He did shoot down a few, but that's OK with me, as long as they at least consider some of them.
I will be finding out later this month which ones are a go.
