Okay Crew...I give you long enough to attend the orentation to be figity but SOMEONE is going to say HI and you will gush like the mighty Mississippi!!! 45 minutes??
Wager??? $25 cuz you know I'm right!!

Mom still sounds so tired but her friends have been great abut keeping her busy and company by going over to the house. SHe is also a terrific seamstress and loves to quilt SO that has been keeping her fingers nimble and mind thinking.

County Fair has begun and the usual bickering of the judges has begun etc, etc, etc! One judge came in and gave ALL twenty entries participation ribbons for projects that took hours while a store bought project had a pretty blue ribbon. The teacher/leader for the participate ribbons was steaming mad and asked what was the deal as these kids worked 20-30 hours on these ceramic pieces and you are just telling them "thanks for coming!" She had this lame answer (Dutch method of judging?) and just made the teacher more upset. In our group I got to the fair early to help set-up our booth and no one and nothing was there. Asked the leader and she lied about having no time and doing it tommorrow. When I came back later in the afternoon, there was another mom and the leader putting everything together. Okay, hang on I should include I'm not an angel in this deal either and there has been stuff going on for years but I got my sign (HA HA) it's tiem to move on. And on that note it's really almost 9AM here and I need to be at school in a couple hours for registration.

Talk about needing volunteers....today it begins-I'm THE ONLY one from the BOard that can be there today! Oh well, I'll get my revenge!

How totally cool, upside down switches!! I LOVE it. You will stay sane and bright into old age if the following is true, and I have NO idea if it is:

Brain Exercises

Try these techniques to keep your mind spry

Just like your body, your mind needs exercise to remain healthy as you grow older.

One way to keep your brain nimble is to practice a technique called neurobics, which uses your senses to help create new connections in areas
of the brain that process sensory input. Done regularly, these simple practices can help keep your mind sharp and ready to tackle new challenges, says a Duke University article.

A neurobic exercise is one that involves the use of one or more or your senses in a novel way, engages your attention, and adds an unexpected
element to a routine activity. Here are some examples:

Use your non-dominant hand as you go through your morning rituals such as combing or styling your hair, getting dressed, brushing your
teeth, and making your breakfast.

Close your eyes as you shower and use your sense of touch to locate your soap and wash yourself.

Turn the pictures on your desk or shelves upside down.

Experience new sights and sounds by going to a new ethnic or farmer's market or bakery.

When you travel abroad, immerse yourself completely in unfamiliar surroundings. For example, go to a small town where no one speaks
your language, try new foods, and stay in a local bed-and-breakfast.

CC-Let's just say I did my planning early for PTO, but I am a little burned out in that department. I'm trying to get myself motivated before enrollment on Thursday so that I can smile for 11 hours straight and try to get parents who don't want to do anything to help this year, all while knowing I should be at home unpacking. We just got the kitchen organized and clean enough to cook in it but still don't have more than a card table cleared off to eat at, go figure. My big problem is this house has more footage but not more usable space. The door ways are huge and don't leave much wall space for bookselves and such. There are also very few outlets and they are badly placed. You'd think we would have noticed this when doing renovations but no. One last thing, my husband's grandpa (who owed the house before us) was a little dingy and most of the light switches are upside down. This very confusing in the middle of the night.

The irony of commitment is that it’s deeply liberating-in work, in play, in love. The act frees you from the tyranny of your internal critic, from the fear that likes to dress itself up and parade around as rational hesitation. To commit is to remove your head as the barrier to your life. --Anne Morris

We'll see after tomorrow's orientation meeting! I had a dream last night that I went back to my old school to return things that I'd found while unpacking. Coincidentally, the first PTO meeting of the year was just starting. I went into the library and saw people storming out after the first five minutes because they were furious with the new direction the group was 'ordered' to go in. Boy oh boy! I have serious control issues. I really, truly have nothing but respect for the wonderful lady who is their president this year. She's going to do a fantastic job. Is there a 12 step program for people like me?

mykidsmom - I hope things are looking up for you right now. I know when my father-in-law was sick (over a two year period) our whole lives revolved around it - to the point that my husband rejected two different transfer-with-promotion opportunities to stay near him. We wouldn't have thought to do things any other way.

Shawn - MMMmmm! Your wife is a lucky, lucky woman!!!!! Keep your money and just continue saying things like that. That way, we're all winners.......

ScottMom - How on earth did you manage to keep your family going, set up a new home and maintain PTO duties?!?!?!?! You must be Wonder Woman.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."

$5 says within one hour of setting foot in your child's school, unless your mouth is duck taped or your child has asked you not to get involved this year. This is what I would give myself also if in your shoes!
