A friend of mine was the Director at the child care center where my children went. Their school has an Art Gala evry May. They would save the students art all year then pick out the best 4 or 5 and display them. The parents could come view the work and then the art could be purchased by making a donation of $1. a piece. Students felt like they were "real" artists because their art was being sold, and it helped out the school. Of course they only had about 80 lids, but I think that as long as you have display space it would still work. They also served refreshments that night too. Oh! And by them selecting the "best" examples and keeping the rest, it helped take away some of that parental guilt over just how much art is enough art to keep
We had an art show at the end of the school year last year. Our Art teacher organized and planned the whole thing, it was incredible. the walls of the school were full of art work from all grades, the students were there to talk about their work. we had refreshments. It was very very simple but was a HUGE success!!
I would like for our school to have an art show. We are a K-5 with about 900 students. Has anyone ever put on just a show? What did you do? Should I pick one night for each grade level? Please help!!
