We held our first ice cream social last year and it was a huge success. It was a welcome back to school event...we held it the week before school and it was pretty easy. We simply had ice cream bars ,popcorn and lemonade. We invited area programs/organizations to set up a table with their information or sign up and put everything on the playground. While the kids played, hula hooped, and shot hoops, the parents got a chance to reconnect with other parents and teachers as well. Good luck! Who doesn't like ice cream right?
We combine our Ice Cream Social with our Bookfair! The families enjoy their sundaes in the cafeteria and then go to the gym where we have our Book Fair Set up. The families love it.

You could ask the school superintendent to come and speak to your parents, or have a carseat expert come and check that car seats and boosters are attached in their cars correctly.
We are planning an ice cream social for next month. Our attendence is only about 200 students, not quite as large as yours. We were thinking of showing a family movie that evening.
We are hosting a ice cream social for our school of 510 students. I'm looking for ideas for the families to enjoy at the social. Any ideas would help!!! I've already look in all the sections of the message boards, please help
